The review describes the collection of articles “The
impact of the pandemic on the individual and society: psychological
mechanisms and consequences”, published by the Institute of
Psychology (RAS) in 2021. The social and psychological effects of the
pandemic, related to the psychological traumatisation of people and
their experience of stress and anxiety, are explored. Moreover, the
reduction of civil rights and freedoms, the strengthening of
conservative and anti-modernist attitudes, the growth of social phobias
in lockdowns did not contribute to a comfortable psychological climate
in society. It is shown that the negative consequences of the pandemic
can have a delayed long-term effect.
