The article is devoted to the analysis of the possibilities of using a neo-institutional approach for the sociological study of artificial intelligence. Its relevance is associated with the active devel-opment and implementation of such systems in various spheres of pub-lic life, as well as the transition of artificial intelligence to the stage of institutionalization. The author relies on the neo-institutional approach in sociology, represented by the works of D. North, J. March, J. Olsen and other famous scientists. The information basis of the research is modern scientific publications on this topic. The prospects of using a neo-institutional approach in sociology to study the processes of artificial intelligence development are shown.
