The purpose of the article is to study the orientations of the population of modern Russia towards traditional values through the prism of sociological research materials presented in domestic scientific journals. Based on the systematization and analysis of published data, the hierarchy, “core” and “periphery” of traditional values in the mass consciousness of Russians are shown. Contradictions in the value con-sciousness of some groups of respondents were noted, as well as the discrepancy between the personal meaning of a number of traditional values and their social significance. The importance of continuing soci-ological research on the orientations of the country's population to-wards traditional values using an interdisciplinary approach, as well as methods of mathematical statistics, is substantiated.
