Abstract
At the present stage, the Balkans, traditionally
perceived as a territory of a geopolitical rift, are once again becoming a
space of struggle between East and West, while maintaining their
subjectivity in international relations. The participants of the conference
«Balkan dialogue in the context of the transformation of the world
order» (October 20, 2023), which brought together Russian and Serbian
experts, discussed the problems of ensuring military and political
security in the Balkans; issues of ontological security and their impact
on the political identity of the countries of the Western Balkans; the
political consequences of disputes over national autocephaly in the
Balkans; the transfer to the security sphere of problems of historical
memory in the Balkan states, as a factor that increases the risks of the
resumption of long-standing conflicts.
