The review aims at introducing readers to a new
research branch, the sociology of hope. By way of introduction, we
present the results of a major project studying research on hope in
various scientific disciplines that was carried out by a group of Dutch
scientists. We then consider the most significant articles from the
thematic issue on the sociology of hope of the leading American
sociological journal "The American Sociologist".
