Plastic surgery nation: beauty standards and their role in the social life of women in the Republic of Korea. (Literature review)

Abstract

This review presents the works of foreign researchers, mostly Korean, on the topic of beauty standards and plastic surgery in the Republic of Korea, which, apart from its economic miracle and successful strategy of international presence by exporting culture, is widely known as the «nation of plastic surgery». The authors present an analysis of the development of plastic surgery as a separate branch of medicine, beauty standards and the influence of popular culture on their formation.
